Terrorism Is Simply Bullying On A Global Scale
The horrific, tragic, and cowardly attacks in Paris last Friday were unconscionable by any measure.
To control bullying, the bully needs to be confronted and given a harsh reality check and a demonstration that there are consequences for his/her intolerable and inexcusable actions.
In 1986 Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi was linked to the bombing of a discotheque in Berlin that was often frequented by U.S. military personnel. Several days later President Reagan put a missile through the window of Qaddafi’s palace. The message was clear and we haven’t heard much from Mr. Qaddafi since.
It is often frustrating trying to rationalize what we see as a completely irrational and selfish act it is to arbitrarily kill innocent civilians. As a Connecticut firefighter that responded to the attack on America on 9/11, I’ve spent countless hours trying to figure it out, to no avail or logical rationalization.
Living in America we often feel safe due to the extensive efforts of both Homeland Security and countless law enforcement agencies. That said, we must never become too complacent. I am reminded of the Sean Connery quote in the 1987 movie The Untouchables. “They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue.”
The proposed plan to integrate Syrian refugees into the US is a seriously flawed plan and demonstrates once again how naïve and how out-of-touch the Obama administration is on the world stage. I submit that the terrorist community in the Middle East is taking advantage of the Syrian refugee chaos to embed terrorist cells throughout Europe. Terrorist leaders are not stupid. What better way to flood the European Union with terrorists then to let them become part of the hundreds of thousands of undocumented refugees escaping Syria. From a terrorist perspective it’s the perfect plan. There’s no way to validate anyone. There is no one to contact in Syria nor are there any records to review.
It is time for President Obama to do a cranialrectalectomy. Mr. President I have the highest respect for the office of President of the United States. However, I am challenged by the leadership of the current incumbent. I recognize and appreciate that immigration is one of your hot button issues. However do not make a bad situation worse by your desire to appear to be the ‘nice’ guy by providing 10,000 Syrian refugees asylum in the U.S. in spite of the administration confident assurances that all the refugees will be “completely vetted”, that is simply an impossible objective to achieve. The United States has enough challenges trying to control our northern and southern borders, ports of entry along the East and West Coast, and in every airport. Why neutralize all those efforts by giving potential terrorists a ‘free pass’.
Look, the reality is that we will all die someday whether it be at age 94 when our bodies simply wear out, by succumbing to cancer or some other debilitating disease, or by the act of a terrorist. Here’s a thought. Why not reduce the stress grieving family by having a plan in place long before you are gone? The plan will be what you agree upon with your loved ones after having ‘the conversation’ of what should happen when you pass away. Trust me… It works!
